Family and Consumer Science I

Family and Consumer Sciences I

This is an 18 week course. You will receive 1 credit.

I would like to welcome you and your student to Family and Consumer Sciences I (FCS). FCS is important for everyone. The courses are designed for students who are interested in food related occupations, child care occupations, human services, interior decorating, fashion industry, clothing and textiles production, and management. However the courses are also designed to help prepare anyone to live independently after high school, regardless of his/her career.

This specific course is designed to be an overview of Family and Consumer Sciences. During this course students will study personal development and family relations, clothing and textiles, child care and development, food and nutrition, financial management, and housing. If your student enjoys the material from a particular area they are encouraged to take future courses that focus on that specific area.
