Mr. Reyes, One Class at a Time
Math teacher Marco Reyes has been awarded KTBS One Classroom at a Time for $1,000, Academic Incentive Grant for $892, and Optimist Club Grant for $1,725.00, totalling $3,617. Mr. Reyes' students will evaluate the temperature of an environment using a Texas Instrument data collector probe and a TI-Nspire graphing calculator. After at least one month of data collection using the graphing calculator, students will create a sinusoidal function to predict the temperature for past and future months. Next, students will find the amount of percent error by programing an application on the calculator. A final assessment will take place in the form of a take home project where students will derive a sinusoidal function for the average monthly temperature of their prospective college or career geographic location.
